My mother-in-law had a fall and was hospitalized for almost six weeks. Upon her discharge, it was recommended that she not go home alone as it was quite difficult for her to perform her basic activities of daily living. She also suffers from the early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease. The RVilla staff had a very warm and gentle persuasive approach and they soon had Barbara not only coming down for meals, but she was also beginning to participate in activities as well…..my mother-in-law has always been a very shy woman, so this in itself was a huge step. They pulled Barb out of her shell. The RVilla is a warm and welcoming home with lots of charm and ambiance. It’s a tight knit home and the staff are like extended family. I love the “feel” at the RVilla. (One thing that is particularly nice is the beautiful and well cared for gardens with a beautiful courtyard in the center of the Lodge.) Growing old is a privilege and at times it can be a very difficult time, especially for the caregivers. My husband and I take great comfort in knowing Mom is not only safe and secure, but her emotional and social needs are being met as well. Mom would rarely use her walker prior to her fall. Now, she is the happiest woman as she takes so much pleasure walking the halls of the lodge. Barb has come such a long way and the staff have all been so patient and helpful every step of the way. Thank you RVilla Caledonia. You have made such a difference.

Thank you so much for the wheelchair. We never know how deeply an act of kindness can touch a heart. Just wanted to let you know how very much your thoughtfulness was appreciated.

When I first came to the RVilla Caledonia, it was quite a shock to the system. You are meeting new people with all their stories about family, friends, and previous work places, and of course medical problems. You meet the administrator first who welcomes you by telling you about different services available in Caledonia–banks, lawyers, doctors, dentists, and Senior Support Services. You meet the many employees–kitchen staff, nurses, activity director, housekeeper, and maintenance. I’m thankful for an atmosphere where entertainment is a must! We enjoy a variety of musical talents, monthly birthday parties, national holiday celebrations, regular trips to scenic places and restaurants. This is all done with a smile.

I like my new home at the RVilla Caledonia. The food is delicious and the snacks are plentiful. I don’t have to cut the grass, pull the weeks, rake the leaves, shovel the snow, or wash the windows. I hope I can stay a while longer.
